A coffee brand with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest.
Opened in 2015, Upper Left Roasters has quickly put its mark on Portland’s hip Ladd’s Addition neighborhood. This stylish but cozy coffee shop welcomes locals into a bright space inspired by the light and the local setting. The company has deep roots in the Pacific Northwest in general and Portland in particular, from the brand identity to the café’s interior design. Adam Garcia of The Pressure studio designed everything from the logo to the creative packaging, while the FIELDWORK architecture and design studio created the gorgeous interior. Both companies are local, cementing Upper Left Roasters’ place as a 100% Pacific Northwest brand.
Entering the café, visitors discover a light-filled space with references to the shop’s location in the neighborhood. Oregon white oak, custom furniture, salvaged terracotta, and modern lighting combine in a minimalist decor. Passionate about good coffee, Upper Left Roasters’ online shop offers a selection of single-origin espresso as well as blend offerings. In the first category, coffee lovers can order java from Colombia, Ethiopia, Peru, or Ecuador. Tasting notes range from jasmine and honey to plum and dark chocolate, offering something for every preference.
For the second range of products, the brand included a drip blend and an espresso blend as well as a cold drip blend. Creative and minimalist packaging that captures the brand’s cool character adds the perfect finishing touch to the products. Apart from a great cup of joe, the café also offers toasts and sandwiches made with locally sourced ingredients. We’d recommend to put this place on your list for whenever you plan to visit Portland, but until then, you can enjoy their coffee from the Upper Left Roasters online shop.
