When it comes to self-critique, it is hard to walk the fine line of overly analytical and disillusioned leniency. This task was carefully challenged by Branch Studio Office Architects, as they designed their own workspace for the design studio. Built in Victoria, Australia, The Studio is nestled among surrounding greens, which provide a source of inspiration for the creative job.
Designed as a refuge for ideas in production, the office assumes a simple form that provides the two architects with parallel views into a neighboring orchard and the landscape architect with a corner view into the courtyard. A group meeting space, illuminated by a zigzag fluorescent, flanks the other side of the entrance, which extends into a foyer and workshop. The slight tint of greenish-blue on the glazing and aged façade perfectly camouflages the building into the environment, as the natural wooden interiors of the studio space contribute to the same effect.
