The PowerPot by David Toledo

View all 4 Photos

The PowerPot is a thermoelectric power generator; it transforms the heat from cooking into electricity in a device with no moving parts. This system offers a plausible means of off grid backpacking and living using only heat and water to generate enough power to charge microelectronics based devices such as smartphones, LEDs and GPS units. There are 2 models that produce 5 and 10 watts of usable electricity in addition to a prototype that outputs up to 15 watts. A regulator cord features 3 foot flame resistant cord leading to the USB charger plug, this way users can control the power output of the system by choosing the intensity of the heat source.
