New from the German art book publisher Taschen, the Lunar Rock Edition of Norman Mailer’s MoonFire goes where no coffee table book has gone before. Designed by Marc Newson, the tome is defined by its presentation as much as its great writing and photography. The reprinted title comes in a protective case that is made from a single piece of aluminum and fashioned to represent the moon’s topography in 3D. Additionally, this latest edition is accompanied by an actual lunar rock in a space-inspired case. There are just twelve copies of this limited-edition collector’s item, and the price is predictably astronomical, ranging from 75,000-480,000€. The most exclusive version, called No. 1,969, is Taschen’s most expensive book to date because it comes with an iron-rich piece of Lunar Feldspathic Impact-Melt Breccia, one of four of its kind found in Morocco in 2007.
