Jean Louis Iratzoki, founder of the Iratzoki Design studio, and industrial designer Ander Lizaso have collaborated for years, including on several projects designed for Alki, a company based in Itsasu, Basque Country. Now the two designers have started a new brand, Iratzoki & Lizaso, and recently launched their first range of products that combine the craftsmanship of the past with that of the present. The Kea Collection has an elegant and understated appearance that brings together age-old artisan skill, the beauty of nature, and contemporary design. Just like the Alki products, it is anchored in Basque tradition and pays homage to nature via minimalist design. The table, shelves, coat stand, and bench are all made of solid oak and feature wrought iron details made by Navarre blacksmiths. The warmth of wood is placed in contrast to the cool iron through light sand and dark ash tones, but also through the materials’ textures. At home in both residential or commercial spaces, the Kea Collection aims to bring a refined accent to interiors while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Images courtesy of Alki.
