This show-apartment was designed by the Berlin-based web publication Freunde von Freunden and the Swiss makers of Vitra, whose previous collaborations include the Jean Prouvé RAW collection and the Diogene Cabin, to name just a couple. Called the FvF Apartment, the space is intended as a site for Freunde von Freunden to bask in creativity and work with partners on future projects. Since its opening in 2014, the gathering place has been used for ventures as far ranging as presenting the James Dyson Award and shooting a teaser for Beck’s beer.
The versatile interior design by Freunde von Freunden, Etienne Descloux, and Katrin Greiling is styled with just white walls and naturally finished wood floors, a clean backdrop for the collected art and design. Mixing hanging and freestanding elements, the apartment balances the items in the space so that no one corner appears overly crowded. The furniture chosen is by Artek, a Finnish brand that Vitra acquired in 2013. These sparing pieces are paired with plants and outdoor items such as a surfboard, a bike, and a skateboard, natural elements bring a relaxed quality to the atmosphere. In this photoset, the countertops are even accented with a pineapple.
The imaginative apartment is found on Mulackstrasse, a street known for high fashion, in the Mitte district of Berlin. Welcoming new “friends of friends,” the space can be booked through Freunde von Freunden.
