Faraday is an e-bike company named after the British physician Michael Faraday, who is known for his work in electromagnetism and electrochemistry. Today, concepts that Faraday began to approach are at work behind the scenes in this vintage-inspired model, the Porteur.
The design does not shout “e-bike,” however, being equipped with a compact motor and a slender battery. The two electric elements can be simply controlled via the handlebar switch and activate up to 20 miles of pedal-assisted cycling. After a long ride, the bicycle can be recharged in three hours or less simply by being plugged into a T-slot socket.
Classic in design, the Porteur is built around a standard steel frame and natural bamboo fenders. The quiet yet powerful electric bike is rigged with a Gates belt drive, a Shimano 8-speed hub, and front and rear integrated LED lights. The cruiser also an also be upgraded with options such as a built-in front rack.
With or without the extra juice, the Porteur is great for both commuting and speeding along in the breeze. The versatile bike comes in three sizes and white and black colorways. Find the design online from Faraway for $3500.
