The Blue Cone by Sandell Sandberg

View all 4 Photos

Perhaps the oddest thing about The Blue Cone is its name. As one out of six tree-rooms offered by Treehotel, the getaway residence is neither blue nor conical. Instead, this interpretation of the common tree house designed by Sandell Sandberg is the brightest of reds, an architectural phoenix among the woods, with its tail a ramp that leads to the main volume. Despite the vividly salient façade, the interiors are calming and cathartic. The animal fur skin that adorns the white-washed wall sets the tone for the rest of the color scheme; gray pillows accent the creamy whites and the light wood of the furniture complements the quiet forests of Swedish Lapland. The high ceiling makes living in a tree house a spacious experience, with a view as generous as the mountains themselves.
