When a magazine passionate about bringing modern design to the masses and a retail giant seeking to offer high-quality at affordable prices decide to collaborate, one expects fireworks. And fireworks we receive thanks to the gorgeous Modern By Dwell Magazine collection produced in a collaboration with Target and slated for a December release. Inspired by mid-century designs, the range contains more than 120 stylish items, including furniture, lighting and décor divided between indoor and outdoor collections.
Founded in 2000, Dwell has always been a champion of bringing “modern design to everyone anywhere, anyplace, anytime, and in any form,” making this collection a natural progression for a brand aiming to transform from a popular magazine into a design, technology and lifestyle brand. The partnership with Target, a company that has previously collaborated with design icons, including Missoni, Jason Wu and Isaac Mizrahi, came naturally, but also ensured that the products remained affordable. The prices range from $16.99 to $99.99 for décor items and accessories and $49.99 to $399.99 for furniture. The collection is designed by Dwell’s co-creative directors of product design: Chris Deam, architect and Dwell founder Lara Deam‘s husband, and Nick Dine, an RCA-trained industrial designer. Mid-century influences abound and blend with a minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic and innovative details. The colors are kept light and chic, from pale pink and shades of gray to bright white and light brown tones. Items include copper bar stools, minimalist coffee tables and bookshelves, terracotta planters, LED pendant lights, and outdoor sofas, to name a few. The Modern By Dwell Magazine line will be launched on December 27 in select Target stores and on the retailer’s online shop. We expect it to fly off both the physical and virtual shelves, so anyone looking to make their home more stylish by the end of the year should set a notification for the launch day. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. Photo credits: Target.
