The Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch

A series of watches that take a renowned design to outer space.

Created in a collaboration between world-famous watch brands Swatch and Omega, the new MoonSwatch collection offers a fun take on an iconic design: the Speedmaster Moonwatch. Marking the first partnership between the two companies, this series celebrates the style of the Omega timepiece with a creative concept that takes the design to outer space. The new collection maintains the key details of the original Speedmaster Moonwatch, including the asymmetrical 42mm case, the ‘dot over ninety’ in the tachymeter scale, and the Speedmaster subdials. Named MoonSwatch, the series takes inspiration from outer space; more specifically, from different planetary bodies that influenced the color palette of the 11 timepieces. For example, the Moon watch has shades of gray while Earth and Venus boast blue and pinkish hues, respectively.

All of the new watches are crafted from an innovative material: BIOCERAMIC. Made from two-thirds ceramic and one-third a material derived from castor oil, BIOCERAMIC is both incredibly durable and eco-friendly. Crucial design elements remain from the original Moonwatch, but a few details celebrate the collaboration between Swatch and Omega. Among them, joint logos on the dial and crown and a new MoonSwatch logo. A hidden “S” also appears on the center of the crystal.

Other features include a quartz movement, a battery cover with the planet that inspired the design, inspirational engravings and a mission statement on the caseback, and a Super-LumiNova coating on the hour markers and on the hour, minute, and chronograph hands. Finally, a VELCRO© strap in a matching or complementing color to the dial adds a stylish touch to the design. Available only in a few Swatch stores from March 26, 2022, the MoonSwatch timepieces cost $260. Photography© Swatch.
