Sustainable Porter Cottage in Maine

View all 17 Photos

Remove yourself from the stuff that weighs you down through the week, because it is time to head to this nest of freedom 20 miles off the coast of Maine. The smallish living quarters host 320 square feet of perfectly organized and precisely designed space by Alex Scott Porter. The cabin’s future has been imagined for sustainability.  Off the grid additions include a  graywater system, solar panels, passive solar heating and cooling, a solar refrigerator originally designed for keeping medical supplies cold in Sub-Saharan Africa, rainwater catchment, and a composting toilet.
