A playful blend of contrasts.
Canberra-based designer Elliot Bastianon believes that furniture should serve more than a utilitarian purpose and create a dialogue or encourage the user to see the world in a different way. His furniture collections often feature different materials and textures, brought together in creative designs. Straight Lines follows the same pattern. Boasting ultra-clean lines and a contemporary aesthetic that takes inspiration from simple geometric shapes, this furniture collection offers a playful take on modern furniture.
The wood frames have a grid design, providing the perfect blend of support and eye-catching style. Plush upholstery with soft curves bulges through the openings. The designs create an elegant but playful contrast between clean lines and organic curves as well as between the hard surface of the wood frames and the soft padding. Chromatic-wise, the collection boasts a range of pastel or brighter upholstery colors, paired with either unfinished or painted frames. Straight Lines includes a sofa and a bench as well as armchairs and coffee tables. All of them complement modern interiors but also add visual impact to any room. And they certainly fulfill the designer’s goal, of going beyond function and entering the creative realm. Photographs© Elliot Bastianon.
