Fix you eyes on the Marathon Trail our favorite model straight up integrity of Spalwart. It’s not just any shoe factory, this is a place where a story of dedication, of courage, of dreams imagined a day where footwear might be affordable for anyone. They were a strong group of workers that came to the factory in Stockholm (Sweden) everyday building shoe by shoe with their own hands. Management continued to keep the standards for affordable prices, although the reality of mass production press down hard on them. For a period of time the production changed to adapt for new market rules. And yet as time passed, an ah-ha moment in east Europe stunned these shoe makers realizing a treasure of old machinery and molds that where long forgotten still intact and in useable order! The happy ending brings things back to the original plant where old school procedures were revived. This is when Spalwart was named, and a new old way of doing things (maybe the long way but certainly the right way) were reinstated. Each shoe walks out of the factory in “non perfect but characteristic beauty.”
