In the beauty of Fårö, Sweden architects LLP Arkitektkontor designed a treasure to match the surrounding landmarks. Sommarhus (or summerhouse) at Stora Gasmora holds fast in a neutral facade on an open field situated between the glamorous Baltic Sea and an amazing 15th century neighboring mansion. Structural style wraps up in common objects assumed for the likes of a farm including larch and the gabled roof of fiber cement boards. Generous sized sliding doors continue this barn-ish feel with a wide isle platform exposing the open roofing above. An easy access to the main living extended to this covered porch by passage of tremendous glass doors. Throughout a delicate balance between rustic and contemporary straddle the fence in perfect arrangement. Mimicking the line up of skylights, a curious balcony peeks out from the rooftop offering views of the sea; also chic woodwork leaves built ins, staircases, and floors almost raw.
