Shoe Shelf by Sebastian Goldschmidtböing

View all 1 Photos

With quieted restraint in artistic intervention, designer Sebastian Goldschmidtböing restores order to a chaos common to every home: shoes. Goldschmidtböing’s shoe shelf is composed of a series of wooden sticks reaching up from a shared base. The angle and alternation of the abacchi wood leaves ample space for many pairs of shoes to comfortably fit on the shoe shelf without the structure itself expending a great volume. Elegant as well as functional, the shoe shelf left bare becomes a decorative piece with its wooden appendages each displaying the same gentle curve and careful craftsmanship. Other projects in Goldschmidtböing’s portfolio include a bench, lamp, and paper pedestal, all of which demonstrate reductive design and an unadulterated union of style and practicality.
