The sleek and versatile Emil e-bike from Schindelhauer now comes with the powerful Mahle X20 system.
Founded in 2009, Schindelhauer has quickly become a pioneering bicycle manufacturer. The company specializes in bikes that bring together technical innovation, cutting-edge engineering and function in elegant, minimalist designs. With many awards under their belt, including the Red Dot Design Award, iF Design Award, Eurobike Award, and German Design Award, the Berlin-based company pushes the boundaries of urban mobility. One of the latest Schindelhauer bikes exemplifies this perfectly. An electric all-rounder, the Emil bicycle model receives a makeover with the innovative Mahle X20 system that keeps efficiency, performance and riding comfort in balance.
Designed with a new geometry, the Emil Mahle X20 bike features a longer head tube and a shorter stem to enhance comfort. The sloping geometry and the low bottom bracket also allow the brand to pair this electric bicycle with larger tires for extra cushioning on cobblestone paths. Placed inside the down tube, the battery remains hidden from sight but allows easy removal when needed. All cables are integrated in the frame. The powerful Mahle motor provides 55 Nm of torque, yet has a subtle presence at the rear to keep the design clean and minimalist.
The Mahle X20 Emil e-bike offers excellent performance and reliability with a series of features that make every ride more fun and comfortable. The Human Machine Interface of the Mahle X20 system provides 3 support levels; the 250Wh-battery provides assistance between 50 and 80 km, depending on the chosen level. Developed by former Porsche engineers, the cutting-edge Pinion gearbox comes with either 6 or 9 gears. On the handlebar, a sliding button allows the rider to smoothly change gears while cycling. Quiet, lightweight and efficient, the Gates Carbon Drive is extremely durable, lasting up to 4 times more than a chain. This system also keeps the bike oil-free and reduces maintenance to zero.
Subtle when turned off, the front and rear lights keep riders safe in traffic at night. The front LightSKIN LED light illuminates with 150 lumens, while the Curana ilu-Jr at the rear shines in red from the mudguard. Both lights meet StVZO standards to conform to German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations.
Another practical feature is the front rack; mounted on the frame, it offers an easy way to carry bags without affecting the agility or balance of the bike. Finally, the Mahle app provides access to an array of settings, from motor levels and battery status to lighting modes, route planning, and ride tracking. Optional accessories include a minimalist bell from San Francisco-based Spurcycle, a sleek bottle holder from Japanese company MINOURA, and anti-theft systems from Hexlox.
