Not many companies receive an Innovation Prize award in the same year they were founded. But Riese & Muller is one of them. Built upon a passion for creating innovative and functional products, the German company has been manufacturing state-of-the-art bikes since 1993. For 2017, the brand adds an ingenious all-rounder bicycle to its collection. None other than the winner of an iF Product Design Award 2013.

Designed for families and anyone looking to switch from a minivan to a healthy, green e-bike, the Load E-Cargo bike aims to provide a convenient solution to go to a picnic, to the store, to school, or on a weekend trip to the countryside. It’s a great way to make the most of a family outing. Thanks to the spacious carrying area, Load can haul around everything from kids to dogs and heavy groceries or bags. A dual seat belt system and a cover for rainy weather ensure the children’s safety and comfort.

The Load comes with a Bosch Performance drive and a 1000 Wh DualBattery. The latter provides double the range of other e-bikes on the market. An innovative Control Technology also ensures optimal shock absorption and perfect balance at higher speeds via a front-wheel suspension, co-suspended carrier and active rear swing arm, for smooth, pleasant rides even on bumpy country roads. Other features include the anti-theft ABUS Protectus 5000 frame lock, IQ-X headlamps as well as a waterproof cover that protects items even in rainy weather conditions. The bike is available in four models and four frame colors: black, white, lime and cyan. An option to choose from seven contrasting colors for the handles and pedals offers an opportunity to personalize the design. Images courtesy of Riese and Muller.
