A minimalist solid oak furniture collection inspired by a 1930s chair.

Inspired by the Crate Chair designed by Dutch furniture designer and architect Gerrit Rietveld in 1934, the Föppl collection offers a contemporary take on the original design’s minimalist aesthetic while celebrating its soul. Munich-based industrial design firm Relvãokellermann designed the collection. Founded by Ana Relvão and Gerhardt Kellermann, the award-winning studio specializes in minimalist designs that not only optimize function but also offer an intuitive user experience and ensure durability through a selection of quality, sustainable materials.

The Relvãokellermann Föppl Collection - Gessato

Made in a collaboration with Holzrausch for the Föppl Villa in Münsing, this furniture collection gives a nod to the Crate Chair which was crafted from leftover wooden crate parts. Every Föppl product features simple wood planks, offering a minimalist furniture solution for modern interiors. At the same time, it provides a stylish alternative to overly intricate or detailed designs. Creating a perfect balance between the clean geometry of the oak boards and everyday comfort, the Föppl collection is both versatile and timeless. The series comprises a dining chair, lounge chair, lounge bench, welcome bench, community bench, bar stool, sun bed, lounge table, and side table, all designed to look fantastic either on their own or in a set.

Crafted from solid oak to an exceptional standard of quality, the Föppl chairs, benches and tables feature hand-finished surfaces. Apart from untreated wood, these pieces of furniture also come in lacquered versions with green, gray or yellow colors. The collection also includes a carbonized version that not only maximizes visual impact but also creates a protective layer to minimize maintenance and prolong the life of the material. Optional cushions and leather pads enhance comfort. The Föppl series suits indoor and outdoor use, offering the perfect opportunity to create the ideal lounge space or dining area.
