A flexible lighting fixture that allows for various configurations, from a simple table lamp to a large architectural composition.
Copenhagen-based Danish design duo Frederik Gustav creates work across various disciplines, exploring the balance between design, architecture and sculpture. Studio founders Frederik Weber and Gustav Dupont also use experimental methods in their work along with a blend of natural materials and elements typically used in construction techniques. With Reflector, the duo proposes a new take on lighting design. Created for the Værktøj 1 exhibition at Gothersgade 30, Copenhagen, this distinctive light sculpture has a modular design that allows for various configurations.
Flexible and versatile, Reflector has a modular build. Bent steel wires hold aluminum screens that softly reflect and diffuse the light. The thin steel frames also feature connectors at the four corners of the shades. As a result, Reflector can easily adapt to different needs and spaces, whether it transforms into a single table, desk or floor lamp, or grows into a monumental wall of light with an architectural presence. The versatility of the design opens up endless interior design possibilities, in both residential and commercial spaces.
The studio created the Reflector installation for the Værktøj 1 exhibition that focused on the theme of “the bent” and on the Gressel HB14, a manually operated machine used to bend metal parts. Apart from Frederik Gustav, three other designers participated in the exhibition: Jonas Trampedach, Kasper Salto, and Michael Antrobus. Photography© Peter William Vinther.
