An eco-friendly, solid wood bench crafted from upcycled timber, Pillar features elegant architectural details and a minimalist silhouette to look at home anywhere.
Good furniture design should not only focus on aesthetics, function and quality, but also on sustainability. The Pillar Bench checks all the boxes in a minimalist silhouette that looks fantastic in any décor. Designed by Quentin de Coster, Head of Industrial Design at the San Francisco-based lifestyle brand Thuma, in collaboration with his team, Sarah Willemart and Eric Wong, Pillar is versatile and timeless as well as conveniently multifunctional. Additionally, it’s crafted with environmental friendliness in mind. Made from 100% upcycled wood, the bench provides the perfect blend of simple elegance and durability as a perfect example of sustainable design.
Similarly to other Quentin de Coster designs, including the PIETER Bookcase or the Satellite marble light, the Pillar Bench explores essential forms to enrich modern homes. It features a sturdy base with wide legs and a slender top to offer a comfortable seating or shelving solution. Architectural elements and sculpted details add a refined accent to any space, whether it’s an entryway, living room, or bedroom.
Crafted from solid wood for long-lasting use, the bench is sturdy and durable. The upcycled rubberwood not only makes Pillar green, but also infuses the design with the distinctive textures and colors of the natural material. Every bench boasts one-of-a-kind lines, wood grain patterns, and subtle imperfections to bring warmth to any decor. This piece of furniture also meets Greenguard Gold standards, for more peace of mind.
Thuma offers the Pillar Bench in two sizes, both available in four finishes: Natural, Walnut, Espresso, and Gray. The bench requires assembly, but users can bring the pieces together in minutes, without the use of tools. Finally, Pillar comes with styrofoam-free, recyclable packaging. Images courtesy of Thuma.
