Minimal in form, thoughtful in every detail.
Some shelves do their job and vanish into the background. Palco doesn’t. Designed by Berlin-based studio Geckeler Michels for Lisbon’s UTIL, this wall-mounted system has a quiet presence—precise without feeling cold, minimal but never generic. Made from a single folded sheet of aluminum, it feels like a structural sketch brought to life, where every element has a reason: built-in bookends, smart cable cutouts, and a concealed rail system that keeps the mounting hardware out of sight. It’s the kind of piece you notice even when it’s empty—especially in one of the bold colorways like pure green or orange. Even the spacing between the tiers has a rhythm to it, bringing a subtle graphic energy into the room.
Palco is modular in both size and spirit. Available in two, three, or four tiers, it adapts easily—alone or paired with others—shifting scale depending on the space. A spice rack in the kitchen, a sculptural bookshelf in the living room, or a tech-friendly perch for a lamp and speaker—it flexes without fuss. And like the rest of UTIL’s work, it’s storage made for the real world: compact, versatile, and built to last. Not a centerpiece, not a placeholder—just a design that quietly makes sense.
