Out of the Woods

View all 10 Photos

In conjunction with the London Design Festival, students at the Royal College of Art have created Out of the Woods, a project that combines outstanding furniture design with sustainable forestry and wood sourcing. Students designed and prototyped twelve unique chairs, optimizing the properties of the hard woods associated with the project. Mentors Harry Richardson of Committee, and Sebastian Wrong of Established & Sons led students through a design process that culminated in the fabrication of their designs, with support from Benchmark and Terence Conran. Sustainability consulting was provided by the American Hardwood Export Council.
