A high-performance, extra-spacious, and ultra-modern SUV.

Launched on December 16 2017, the new ES8 electric SUV aims to not only change the way environmentally-conscious drivers see large vehicles, but to also bring more traditional automotive fans in the e-revolution. Designed and manufactured by Chinese company NIO, the car has a sleek aesthetic and subtle futuristic vibes. Clean lines and geometric shapes dominate the build, while elegant curves soften the NIO SUV’s fierce look.

Apart from its good-looks, the NIO SUV also impresses with its performance. It comes with a lightweight all-aluminum chassis and body. The two four-wheel drive motors provide 480 kW of power and 840 Nm of torque. This means that the electric SUV can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. ES8 also comes with a battery pack that has a life-cycle of 2,000 charges; it provides a range of 500 km at 60 km per hour, and a NEDc range of 355 km.

The cabin features the smart ‘NIO pilot’ driver assistance system which includes 23 sensors ranging from front and surround exterior cameras to ultrasonic sensors. And to top it all off, the company has also developed a new charging system that allows the driver to swap batteries in a few minutes, and a power service product that offers a 100 km range after a 10-minute charge. NIO provides a battery rental plan as well as other services, with a planned number of 1,100 power swap units built by 2020. Photographs© NIO.
