Scandinavian design meets sustainable manufacturing in a cool and eco-friendly sneaker line.

Oslo-based footwear brand New Movements makes sustainable sneakers that provide an eco-friendly as well as beautifully designed alternative to fast fashion. Following the success of the brand’s first collection, the second line of sneakers takes the slow fashion concept even further. Named 02 Postpone, the new range features two new versatile, affordable, and eco-friendly sneaker models: HUK and ÅPNE. In a similar way to the previous range, the new sneakers put a focus on ethical, sustainable manufacturing. Likewise, the same circular design philosophy remains at the heart of the collection.

The sneakers feature around 90% recycled and circular materials sourced from European suppliers. For example, the Italian leather is gold-certified and chrome-free, while the GRS-certified shoelaces are actually made from recycled plastic bottles. Naturally, these sustainable sneakers also look cool, featuring a minimalist Scandinavian style that goes with everything. A classic street sneaker, HUK has a clean monochromatic design as well as colorful accents on the recycled rubber outsole. ÅPNE boasts contrasting color sections at the front and heel, along with a recycled rubber sole.

The brand also paid attention to the packaging, as the sneakers come in a recycled paper shoe box made from 90% recycled cardboard. Plus, for every pair sold, the company funds the ocean clean up equivalent of 200 plastic bottles. Launched on Kickstarter with a hugely successful campaign that has surpassed the initial goal almost six times over, the 02 Postpone range is available at 50% off from the future retail price. The campaign ends on October 4, 2019, with shipping starting from November, 2019.
