We’ve heard a lot about custom bike shops operating out of Oregon – primarily Portland – but Muirandessi Bicycle Works, based in Eugene, is a monument to the art of handcrafted machines. Starting with a degree in Metal Fabrication from his local community college, founder Andrew Lu went on to learn fillet/silver braze at the United Bicycle Institute as he continued to teach himself as much as possible about the craft. Now, what was once a side hobby has become a business. Lu makes each frame for Muirandessi himself from start to finish, communicating with the customer throughout every step of the process for custom frames that embody traditional values of patience, care, and fine craftsmanship. His passion for the creation of bikes is not unlike that of a fine sculptor, a quality he hopes to impart through his charming one-man shop. Learn more and order your own custom frame, be it track, road, commuter/CX, or touring, from his website.
