Monkeebeast – A Customized Yamaha XSR900

Displaying plenty of charisma through a minimalist design, Monkeebeast illustrates how a talented team can improve an original design to create a new custom Yamaha that has its own personality. Danish workshop Wrenchmonkees has recently completed the bike as part of the Yamaha Yard Built project. The Japanese manufacturer’s program invites talented motorcycle builders to upgrade Yamaha bikes with creative designs and then to produce aftermarket kits that ultimately allow owners to recreate the designs and customize their motorcycles at home, on their own.

Monkeebeast is based on the XSR900. It maintains the chassis intact to respect the rule set out by the Yamaha Yard Built, but it completely modifies the original through several innovative additions. The surface of the Monkeebeast and several pieces are painted black; apart from being a trademark of the workshop, it works well with the bike’s new identity of a fierce brawler. But the transformations are not merely aesthetic – this XSR900 has been converted from a street bike into an all-terrain motorcycle. The cast wheels have been switched for Continental TKC tires with Borrani 17” spoke wheels,  black rims, and 9mm stainless steel spokes. At the back, there’s a new K-Tech shock, a TRW brake disc, LED light, and Gilles Tooling chain adjusters, while the front upgrades include steel braided brake lines, a Nissin brake master, Magura handlebar, MT-03 style headlight, and Biltwell Renegade grips. Custom-made aluminum rear and front fenders, the engine guard, and the seat are designed by the Wrenchmonkees team, and selected parts from this stunning build will be available on the workshop’s website. Owners of the XSR900 will have the opportunity to make their bikes look more unique and to infuse them with a touch of Monkeebeast’s alluring personality.
