Designed for the Giorgio Armani showrooms of the 1970s, re-engineered for modern living spaces.
Italian design history is not meant to stay in the past. From relaunched editions of iconic lighting to updated versions of beloved products, Italian design is truly timeless. The Minale lounge chair is the perfect example. Originally designed by Marcello Minale in 1973 for the Giorgio Armani showrooms across Europe, this elegant chair has now been re-engineered and re-imagined by his son, Massimo Buster Minale. The new version preserves the elegant lines of the original, but adds extra comfort and functional features for modern living.
The Minale chair is as much as an homage to the legacy of a world-renowned designer as it is a heartwarming letter from son to father. Indeed, Massimo Buster Minale used his father’s original sketches to bring the new version of the lounge chair to life. The 2025 series of the Minale chair features an oversized metal frame and an Italian-tailored leather seat and backrest. New features include padding on the seat for comfortable lounging as well as a stackable frame for extra convenience. Additionally, adjustable belt straps allow for future proofing. Solid brass ‘M’ logo caps details on the sides complete the design.
Made by hand in Italy, the seat cover is manufactured from top-grain leather with hand-stitched hems. The leather will age with grace, developing a patina and markings to become even more special and one-of-a-kind. Minale offers the design with chrome or black frames, in black or tan leather. The new edition of the Armani lounge chair is available now, with the monochrome black version produced in a limited series of only 50 chairs. Images courtesy of Minale.
