An electrified take on the iconic Isetta bubble car.
Over the past few years, the electric automotive industry has grown at a steady pace. In an ocean of sleek and futuristic cars, it may be hard to make a lasting impression. Yet Microlino EV succeeds thanks to a bold, vintage-style design. Created by the Swiss electric scooter company Micro Mobility Systems, this charming electric car looks unlike anything else on the market. The eye-catching design draws inspiration from the retro BMW Isetta bubble car. Launched in the ‘50s, Isetta featured three wheels as well as a front hinged door and vibrant colors. Microlino EV modernizes the vintage aesthetic and maintains the refrigerator-like door at the front. A creative take on an Isetta electric car.
Measuring under 8 feet in length, the vehicle has recently passed the final EU homologation tests to become road-legal. Made specifically for European cities, Microlino has a compact shape that can handle tighter corners and narrow streets. During tests, this Isetta electric car-style design achieved a top speed of 56 mph, with a sprint of 0-31 mph completed in five seconds. The 8kW/h battery version has a range of 78 miles, while the 14.4kW/h one reached the 125 miles mark. Micro Mobility Systems aims to start production in December, 2018, and deliver the first Microlino EV cars in Switzerland by the beginning of 2019. Photographs© Micro Mobility Systems.
