Frankenfoods have invaded our refrigerators. Processed to the point of questionably nutritious with a salt content that would make you think our tongues don’t distinguish flavors. What’s going on with the package of chicken that’s only 5 dollars for 10 pounds, and right next to it is a “natural” option that is almost triple the price for half the weight!? Makes you wonder….
Meat Cute is a collection of photographs from the creative desk of Liz McBurney. In her own words she describes it as “inspired by the patterns and textures in processed meat and how similar it is becoming to man-made fabrics.” Her playful art led to attaching a zipper to a roaster, buttons to pair of butterflies chops, and knitting needles to a pound of ground beef.
Her work was been noticed by the Guardian where they asked Liz to produce some work for their article back in June 2012 on “Fake Meat: Is Science Fiction on the Verge of Becoming Fact?” She placed sausage links inside test tubes, reflecting the magical essence of combining a little this and a bit of that and… POOF! Meat.
