An elegant, flexible chair that maximizes comfort.
Based in Cologne, Germany, the VOSDING Industrial Design studio makes minimalist furniture, lighting, and home accessories with a creative twist. The Mµ chair is a perfect example of the firm’s approach to industrial design. Created by studio founder Peter Otto Vosding, the chair features an elegant, minimalist aesthetic. The project’s working title of “Was bleibt” translates to “what remains” and highlights the concept behind the design: reducing the used material to a minimum and exploring potential forms. As a result, Mµ is lightweight and elegant as well as comfortable and versatile.
Made in a collaboration with cabinetmaker Dirk Vosding, the Mµ chair features an ingenious build. While crafted from ash wood, it boasts a flexible backrest and seat that enhance seating comfort. The thin strips of ash wood bend slightly and adapt to the user’s body. Thanks to the sledge base that incorporates the lateral sections of the chair, the entire frame becomes more flexible to enhance comfort further. The precise thickness of the backrest also allows the user to bend it at a ten to twelve degree angle. All of these features transform Mµ into the perfect chair for a dining room. Made from ash wood, the chair is available in a natural, light color as well as in a bolder black version. Photographs© VOSDING Industrial Design.
