An iconic 1978 glass lamp transformed into a mini version that is just as gorgeous but conveniently portable.
Danish design brand Karakter has curated a fascinating collection of lighting, furniture and objects created by some of the world’s most talented contemporary designers and masters of designs. Among them, the award-winning Italian architect, designer and sculptor Angelo Mangiarotti (1921-2012), a visionary who explored honesty in form, material, craftsmanship, and emotional impact in his wide-ranging work. Created by Mangiarotti in 1978, the Lari table lamp translated architectural elements into an industrial-style lighting design. Now part of the Karakter collection, the Lari lamp still amazes with its sculptural silhouette and celebration of fine artistry.
Each lamp is made from a single piece of mouth-blown glass with an oversized, rectangular shape. A ripple pattern gives texture to the glass and subtly blurs the light at the same time. A minimalist aluminum base with a black lacquered finish provides support to the clear glass lamp and also houses the electrical system.
Exploring the same design but in a portable version, the new Lari Mini recreates the charm of the original lamp in a more compact and convenient form. This smaller lamp features the same single piece of mouth-blown glass with a vertical rippled pattern, placed on a powder-coated aluminum base. Inside, two LEDs illuminate with a soft, slightly blurred light to create a cozy mood anywhere.
A 3.7V 4.000mAh lithium polymer battery powers the lights for around 14 hours at a brightness of 70%. Speaking of percentages, this lamp has a dimming function with three levels that go from 40% to 70% and 100%. Finally, with the included USB-C cable, the battery recharges fully from zero in 3.5-4 hours. Perfect for many settings, the Lari Mini lamp suits areas as different as family lounge areas, reception desks, and restaurants. Discover the Lari Mini lamp in the Gessato Design Store.
