Modernist and contemporary vibes, brought together in a refined design.
Held every December, the prestigious Interior Design Best of Year awards celebrate talented architects, product designers, and manufacturers from the US and around the world. Previous BoY winners include the You and Me table in 2014 and Desai Chia Architecture’s contemporary lake house in 2016. This year, the Seating: Residential/Lounge category features the expected gems, but Phase Design’s Kickstand Lounge Chair captured our attention.
The studio was founded in 2000 in Los Angeles by self-taught designer Reza Feiz, who gained international recognition for his minimalist and refined designs that combine modernist architecture influences with contemporary design. The Kickstand Lounge Chair not only displays the designer’s penchant for blending complementing materials, but also displays his love of clarity and simplicity. The chair comes with a powder coated metal base in black, contrasted by the neutral fabric upholstery. Creative details include the headrest, completed in rich brown leather, as well as the golden brass armrests. Made locally in Southern California, the lounge chair is the epitome of modern American furniture design. Photographs© Phase Design.
