The Khmara Lamp Series

Creative lighting designed to resemble cloud formations.

Based in Kiev, Ukraine, Sergey Makhno Architects is a multidisciplinary studio that completes architecture, interior design, and product design projects with references to the principles of wabi-sabi and Japanese minimalism. Their Khmara lamp series draws inspiration from a cloudy sky to offer a more creative lighting solution for modern interiors. At the same time, the designs aim to create a sense of wonder and a dream-like feeling in living space. Organic and distinctive, the ceiling lights have curved forms and irregular silhouettes that mimic the shapes of a cloud.

Sergey Makhno Product makes each ceiling light by hand to order in their ceramic workshop. The team offers a rage of customization options for the Khmara lamp series. Apart from the size, customers can also select the color and material. Depending on the ceiling, the lamps come either in ceramic or polyurethane foam. Colors range from white and black to multi-color options, but customers can order bespoke painted or textured versions. The organic design allows the creation of eye-catching lighting sculptures. From pairing pendants of different sizes to arranging the lamps at different heights, the sky is the limit when it comes to transforming a room with the Khmara series. Photographs© Ihor Havrylenko.
