The Kalk Electric Bike

View all 13 Photos

A whole new kind of e-bike.

It only takes a quick glance to realize that the new Kalk off road electric bike looks unlike anything else on the market today. And with good reason. Swedish brand Cake took inspiration from DH and Enduro MTBs designs in order to create a bike that blends minimalism with innovative technology and a whole lot of craftsmanship. Since the e bike high power concept required an ‘out of the box’ mentality, the bike is unsurprisingly unconventional. In terms of its design as well as its build. To bring Kalk to life, the company created a whole new chassis and geometry to achieve the perfect balance between performance, handling, and reliability.

The custom components are all exclusive to the off road electric bike; from the CNC machined alloy parts to carbon fiber parts. Several pending patents are also included in the build. Designed for off road transportation, Kalk comes with a 15 kW mid motor and a 51.8 Volt, 50Ah battery. This setup provides a range of 50 miles and a top speed of 50 mph. Other components include aerospace grade aluminum parts, enlarged 25mm axles, and a front Öhlins suspension, with a rear Öhlins TTX dampening technology and motorcycle standard brakes with four calipers also included. The first edition of just 50 e bike high power models is currently available to pre-order. This ultra-limited range features various unique parts and comes with a price tag of around $14,000. Shipping starts from mid June, while the standard production series will make its debut in late 2018. Photographs© Cake.
