Japanese House Extension with Atrium

View all 14 Photos

This striking design was created by mA-style Architects for a young couple living in Yaizu of the Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan. Extending the main house, the contemporary volume offers a more quiet, private place of escape. The extension is connected by a corridor so that guests enter the new area with intention. The space is made on a two-level open plan with a ground floor and an atrium. Straight lines and triangles structure the extension, so that it seems at once spacious and defined.
