Created by Berlin architecture and design studio COORDINATION, “Italic Light” explores the familiarity of the table lamp through an interactive design and a reduced sculptural form. Shaped like an italicized “i,” the light pays homage to classic and postmodern iconography, playing into both the two- and three-dimensional worlds. The well-considered design makes it incredibly versatile; whether or not “Italic Light” is illuminated, the contrast of elegant marble and bold turquoise aluminum make for a simple yet striking sculptural piece that would compliment practically any aesthetic. Its touch-dim sensor allows the user to engage intuitively with the 31 cm light in an insightful interpretation of the ever-changing relationship between user and product. With an LED light inside its swiveling aluminum shade, “Italic Light” is a sustainable piece that is sure to stand the test of time. Additionally it is furnished with long-life LED ring, textile cable, and a built-in transformer.
