Hardwood Sumo Chair by Benwu Studio

View all 11 Photos

The Sumo chair is strong and balanced like a good wrestler. The Benwu Studio design cheekily references the posture and attire of sumo wrestler’s through its squat frame and the sloping shape of its back support and armrest. Made of hardwood, the armchair is just as durable as traditional rosewood designs but also more sustainable and affordable. The seating is crafted in China without the use of glue or hardware, and the resulting product is a champion of both minimalism and refinement.
