A collective of young designers from all over Australia, Nau showcases the best of Australian design and creativity. The brand recently revealed its first collection, which takes inspiration from a wide range of sources, some more surprising than others. Australia’s breathtaking landscapes and cities, totemic structures as well as renowned Italian architect Carlo Scarpa are on the list. ‘Millennial pink’ also appears throughout the range. Although different and distinctive, the furniture and lighting designs have key things in common. They have a simple construction with a minimal number of components, and their design focuses on the use of natural materials and on minimizing waste.
Adam Cornish, Gavin Harris, Adam Goodrum, and Jack Flanagan all created pieces for this first collection. Among them, the Bell pendant that references Carlo Scarpa’s love of bringing two different elements together and make them work harmoniously as a whole; multifunctional nesting tables; a modular sofa; a bed, armchair and sofa specifically designed for open-plan spaces. Nau made its international debut at this year’s ICFF in New York. Locally, it launched its collection this June at Denfair, in Melbourne. Photography© Nau.
