An ingenious concept that re-invents the liquid hand soap as a completely sustainable product.
Developed by Stockholm-based design studio Form Us With Love, FORGO re-imagines the classic hands soap as an eco-friendly product that is kind to both the skin and the environment. The brand provides a green twist on personal care products, starting with one of the most basic items in our bathrooms: the hand wash. In the FORGO version, the everyday liquid soap transforms into a sustainable product that covers all the bases. Created in a collaboration with a lab that specializes in natural cosmetics, the soap comes in a powder form.
Each paper sachet contains 12 grams of powder which requires 250ml of hot tap water to become liquid soap. This not only eliminates the need to buy plastic bottles every time you run out of hand wash, but also significantly reduces the shipping’s carbon footprint and the amount of waste reaching landfills. Furthermore, FORGO’s subscription service makes it easier than ever before to go completely green. With the starter kit, customers receive a refillable glass bottle and 20 sachets of soap powder. The formula features only 10 ingredients and comes in three versions: Citrus, Wood, and Neutral. For the citrus version, the company used leftover peels from organic juice manufacturing in the Caribbean. For the wood soap, they sourced wood waste from timber scrapyards in Canada.
Apart from the vegan, cruelty free, and gentle natural ingredients, the FORGO soap also comes with sustainable packaging. While the artisan-made glass bottle comes from Portugal and features a recycled plastic cap, the sachets feature paper made from wood that comes from sustainably managed forests. Finally, the soap comes with 100% recyclable outer packaging. Available from September 2020, FORGO will be available through a subscription service which customers can pre-order now.
