Fern Chacha – a Bike Built for Adventures

View all 11 Photos

Some bikes are designed for urban commuting. Others take you on unforgettable adventures across the world, becoming your most treasured material possession. Fern Chacha is undeniably part of the latter category. The bike is made by Berlin-based Fern-Fahrraeder, which means ‘Remote Bicycles’ in German. This small company was founded by two close friends, Flo and Phillip, after traveling together for more than 30,000 km on their bikes and realizing they could put their experience, design skills and acquired knowledge about various types of terrains and riding conditions to good use.
The Chacha bike takes its name from a strong brandy the duo enjoyed in the Georgian mountains and has been previously tested on rough roads and paths in Kurdistan, Georgia, and Patagonia. The bike is assembled by hand in the company’s workshop and features a classic touring type frame with fillet brazed Columbus tubing, a Sugino crank, a Salsa handlebar, a Supernova light, and a Brooks Cambium saddle, among other high quality components. Designed for exploring far away places, the Chacha also comes with various storage spaces and frames that are perfect for holding a backpack or a smaller tent. The standard wheels measure 26” but a 28” option is also available by request, along with other custom touches to suit a particular journey or personal requirements.
