Mediterranean roots and traditional craftsmanship meet sustainable design.

Established in 1960 under the name La Exportadora del Mimbre, Expormim (renamed in the 1980s) is a Spain-based furniture brand that makes products with a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and innovative, sustainable design. The family-owned company also celebrates the founders’ Mediterranean roots with products that take inspiration from age-old customs and artisan techniques. To create its exclusive furniture collection, Expormim collaborates with renowned designers. Names include Norm Architects and Jaime Hayon as well as Oscar Tusquets Blanca and Mario Ruiz.

Eco-conscious furniture made from natural and recycled materials.

Handcrafted from sustainably sourced materials, the collection highlights the beauty of wood and rattan. Strongly associated with the Mediterranean, rattan is also durable and comes in a rich array of hues. The brand uses craftsmanship as a means of expression, not only to convey the importance of traditional techniques and the character of natural materials, but to also give tribute to the cultural language of handicrafts. At the same time, the collection promotes the principles of sustainability and social responsibility. The wood comes from sustainably managed forests, while the finishes are water-based. Finally, the packaging contains at least 70% of recycled material. To optimize production, ensure a high level of quality and reduce waste, the company completes every step of the manufacturing process in-house. This includes rattan bending and joinery as well as finishes and upholstery.

The Expormim collection includes both indoor and outdoor furniture, from chairs and tables to storage systems. Every product comes to life in the company’s own factory but reaches a global market. Expormim’s designs are a part of residential spaces, hotels, restaurants, or creative studios. Whether crafted from rattan, wood, wood and soft upholstery, or a blend of rattan and recycled aluminum, the pieces of furniture are all elegant and contemporary. The designs include armchairs with organic frames, outdoor loveseats, sun loungers, swivel armchairs, tables, storage units, room dividers, and more. Entire collections created by different designers allow customers to co-ordinate their home’s design, both indoors and outdoors. Photographs © Expormim.
