Two collaborations with award-winning designers.
Launched by Established & Sons at this year’s edition of the London Design Festival, Island and the new additions to the Crate Series enrich the contemporary design brand’s collection. While Island was created in collaboration with designers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, the Crate Series was designed by Jasper Morrison.
Exploring the change in the way people work in offices, Island features a modular bench system that allows multiple configurations. “The concept was designed to encourage relaxed social interactions, impromptu meetings, or a pause between journeys. A place to linger and recharge, bringing about productivity or rest,” says designer Erwan Bouroullec. The ingenious system brings previously non-productive areas to life; the design encourages collaboration as well as relaxation in high-traffic environments. At the same time, the design helps to create a natural flow in public areas without impending lines of sight. Island features a series of modular units with a steel frame and CLT panels as well as optional upholstery. Apart from its custom configurations, the system also comes with external or internal partitions that act as backrests. Other accessories include integrated charging stations, tables, and cushions. Finally, Established & Sons offers the design with single or double depth options.
Five new designs that join the popular Crate collection.
Introduced in 2006, Jasper Morrison’s Crate referenced the traditional wine crate in a spartan design that combined function and craftsmanship with the warmth of wood. The series became the “antithesis to ego-driven design” and a protest against over-complicated products and designs full of style without substance. Now, the award-winning designer has added five new pieces to the series. The new additions comprise three storage units that double as side tables, a lounge chair, and a daybed. While the chair features upholstery on a tubular frame with curved shapes, the Crate daybed boasts a pine wood base with clean, angular forms. Jasper Morrison also designed the installation for his Crate Series, a beautifully curated space that highlights the products’ minimalist style in a warm space made to look like a home. Design lovers can see the installation until November 2022, with viewings available on request. Photography © Established & Sons.
