Designed by Layer founder Benjamin Hubert, the Axyl collection of eco furniture has a distinctive aesthetic that makes it stand out from the crowd. Probably because it combines strong geometric elements with a classic A-frame design and mid-century modern influences. A perfect blend of good design and green materials.
Refined, expressive, and minimalist, the range of cafe furniture includes a stackable chair and a bar stool as well as a practical table, all entirely made of recycled materials. The designer used recycled aluminum for the frames and legs, cutting the energy requirement of the manufacturing process by 95 per cent compared to new aluminum. The seats and tabletop feature recycled wood fiber, timber, or nylon. Creative and modern, the chairs come with an inverted Y-frame and an injection-molded shell. An optional nylon cushion also provides the opportunity to make the seats even more comfortable.
Layer studio’s first collaboration with a British furniture brand, the Axyl collection will be launched at Somerset House during the London Design Festival which runs from 16-24 September 2017. The perfect time to plan that trip to London? We’re just saying. Images courtesy of Layer.
