An ultra-limited edition watch that celebrates a legendary design.

Back in 1967, the DOXA SUB watch made history as the as the first purpose-built dive watch. Created in a historic collaboration between Swiss dive watch pioneers DOXA Watches and dive gear manufacturer Aqua Lung, the timepiece became an iconic design as well as a benchmark for other diving watches. DOXA’s name was soon trusted by maritime organizations such as US Divers, The Seahunters, and the Royal Australian Navy. Fast forward to 2017, and the two companies teamed up to launch the DOXA SUB 300 Searambler ‘Black Lung’ watch. A special design that celebrated DOXA Watches’ 50th anniversary, the timepiece sold out in under 24 hours. And since their collabs are clearly a guaranteed success, the two brands partnered yet again. This time, to release the ultra-limited edition SUB 300 Searambler Silver Lung.

The timepiece marks the continued celebrations of two anniversaries: DOXA’s 50th and Aqua Lung’s 75th. An homage to the legendary DOXA SUB from 1967, this watch offers a modern twist on the vintage design. “It made perfect sense to pay tribute to another iconic watch from that original trio of DOXA SUB watches bearing our classic yellow-on-black insignia – a collaboration which still holds a special place in the minds of our founders, as well as with divers the world over,” says Don Rockwell, CEO of Aqua Lung. “Like DOXA, Aqua Lung is a name that carries an incredibly rich legacy of ocean exploration, and we believe this very special SUB is the perfect means of paying tribute,” adds Rick Marei, Marketing Manager of DOXA Watches LTD.

Limited to only 300 pieces, the DOXA SUB 300 Searambler ‘Silver Lung’ features a brushed silver dial. The finish evokes the rays of the sun reflecting off the surface water. An Aqua Lung’s heritage “US Divers” logo appears at the 8:00 mark. Similarly to the original SUB 300, Silver Lung comes with a case machined from a solid block of stainless steel. It measures 42.5 mm in diameter, features a bubble sapphire crystal, and is water resistant to 300 meters. The serrated unidirectional timing bezel boasts DOXA’s patented ‘No Deco’ scale in orange, following the US Navy’s no-decompression limits for safe recreational diving.

The timepiece comes with a Swiss-made ETA 2824-2 COSC certified automatic movement as well as the signature stainless steel “beads of rice” bracelet. The strap also features an integrated diver’s suit extension clasp. DOXA SUB 300 ‘Silver Lung’ is available to pre-order exclusively from DOXA at a reduced price of $2,190 compared to the regular price of $2,590. If you’re planning a diving expedition this summer, relax. The brand aims to ship the watches in August. Photographs© DOXA Watches.
