David Salmela is a practicing architect in Duluth, Minnesota, USA. His projects include Brandenburg’s studio in Ely, Minnesota, the Emerson Sauna in Duluth, Minnesota and the Jackson Meadow Development in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. These projects were recognized with national architectural honors including the American Institute of Architects’ National Honor Award in 1998 and 2005, and the American Institute of Architects’ National Citation Award in 2005. Additionally, he received the 2005 National AIA Honor award for Regional and Urban Design for the Jackson Meadow Development in Duluth, Minnesota; the 2005 National AIA Small Project Award for the Yingst Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and the 2011 National AIA Small Project award for the Bagley Classroom at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His work has also been featured in numerous publications including Abitare, Architectual Review, Graphis, Architectural Record, and The New York Times.
