Founding partners Sharon Johnston, FAIA, and Mark Lee established the architectural firm Johnston Marklee in Los Angeles in 1998. Over time, the firm has earned a significant reputation both within the United States and abroad, amassing over 40 prestigious awards and being featured extensively in various publications. With a diverse portfolio of projects spanning across North and South America, Europe, and Asia, Johnston Marklee has made its mark in 14 countries. Some notable recent works include the Menil Drawing Institute in Houston, Texas; the revamped Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago; the UCLA Graduate Art Studios campus located in Culver City, California; and the new Dropbox headquarters situated in San Francisco. Johnston and Lee held the position of Artistic Directors for the Chicago Architecture Biennial in 2017.
