The Aero Track is a custom ride designed and handcrafted by Chad Lovings and Bryce Baumann of the Denver-based workshop LoveBaum, Made with both True Temper and Columbus Life tubing, the frame is curved at the seat post, making for a unique silhouette. Finished in white, the stunning frame contrasts with the perforated black leather Brooks saddle, which was customized by Carson Leh.
The bike is a classically styled modern steel track bike, built to be stiff and nimble yet extremely stable at high speed. The frame is fillet brazed with a mix of steel tubing: True Temper top tube and curved aero seat tube, an aero profile Columbus Life down tube as well as Life chainstays and seatstays. The tapered head tube is from Nova which mates nicely with the tapered Columbus carbon track fork and has the benefit of being extremely stiff, especially in corners. The dropouts are stainless as well as the custom seat mast clamp area which prevents any paint chipping. The seat mast topper is custom and utilizes Enve clamp hardware. The integrated bar/stem was made using a Deda track bar that I brazed to a custom stem clamp.
The bike was painted by Spectrum Powderworks, it’s an off white powdercoat with matte black logos that is finished with a liquid clear coat. The custom leather work for the saddle, grips, and top tube protector was done by Carson Leh of Leh Saddles. The cranks are old Dura Ace track cranks that I refurbished and brought to a polish and matched to a 44rn chain ring. The wheels are built using White Industries hubs, Sapim cx ray spokes, and no-name carbon tubular rims. Challenge tubular track tires round out the build.
