Designed by Italy’s Digital Habits, creators of the P.A.C.O. Concrete Speaker, Chromatica is hybrid table lamp and speaker made to foster synesthetic experiences of light, sound, and gesture. The holistic, ambient technology can be remote- and touch-controlled via its signature app. The white and RBG LEDs, for example, can be adjusted for any mood or occasion by swiping the app’s color wheel. Italian inside and out, the innovative design is an ARDUINO@HEART product, running on a processor by Arduino, an Italian tech powerhouse and the largest Open Source project community. As hackable technology, Chromatica can be personalized to respond to custom commands, connect with one’s cellular as a speakerphone, offer quality music playback, and more. The device communicates with one’s mobile device via Bluetooth and charges via USB. A simple rectangle, the design complements pretty much any modern interior. Currently, Chromatica is on view at the the Superstudio Temporary Museum for Milan Design Week.
