Tomoaki Uno

Nagoya, Japan

Born in the Aichi Prefecture in 1960, Tomoaki Uno graduated with an architecture degree from the Kanagawa University in 1983. After working in the Hasebe Architecture Office, he established his own architecture and design firm in 1990. Based in Nagoya, the studio completes a range of projects, from residential architecture to product design. The firm’s work features highly imaginative concepts in minimalist packages. From a wooden house without windows to a concrete dwelling with skylights or lighting that blends avant-garde design with subtle vintage cues, every Tomoaki Uno Architects project stands out. Apart from architecture and design projects, Tomoaki Uno has also published a book that chronicles the firm’s work over its first 20 years.
