Oslo, Norway
Founded in 1989 in Norway, Snøhetta is now a renowned international practice. Based in Oslo and New York City, it also has studios in San Francisco, Innsbruck, Stockholm, and Adelaide. The architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, and brand design practice works towards enhancing a sense of place, building a connection between people and man-made or natural spaces. The range of projects varies widely, from museums and town halls to offices, commercial spaces and private residences. Regardless of the size of the project, the practice creates a complementary relationship between traditional handicrafts, cutting-edge technology, and sustainability. Notable projects completed by Snøhetta include the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo, the National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion of the World Trace Center Memorial in New York City, and the SF-MOMA Expansion in San Francisco.
